Position Details
Duties
- Maintain working order of instruments/equipment/monitors
- Support veterinarians in carrying out all daily activities
- Perform technical procedures without supervision in dogs, cats, and rabbits, including:
- Collection of vital parameters such as temperature/pulse/respiration
- Venipuncture
- IV and urinary catheter placement
- Anesthetic induction and intubation
- Anesthetic monitoring and maintenance
- Surgical preparation
- Extubation and recovery from anesthetic
- Running blood, urine, fecal, and cytology samples on in-house Idexx machines
- Prepping blood, urine, fecal, and cytology samples for review by a pathologist at a send-out lab.
Requirements
- Completion of a two- or three-year animal health/veterinary technology college program is required
- 5+ years of experience as a veterinary technician is required
