Senior Counsel, Insurance Litigation – Toronto, Ontario. Hours: 37.5, Line of Business: Legal.

Pay: $165,000 - $210,000 CAD (subject to annual reassessment). This temporary market premium is specific to the role.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and tactical legal advice, counsel, relationships, and oversight to TD Insurance – primarily property, casualty, and life and health lines.
• Oversee litigated claims, manage active litigation, review and advise on matters proceeding to trial, appeal or significant risk.
• Directly instruct external counsel for litigation at all court levels (does not involve in‑court advocacy).
• Provide legal advice on class actions, coverage issues, first‑party claims, underwriting, investigations, and internal processes.
• Perform audit function for internal and external counsel handling claims‑related litigation to ensure compliance with standards.
