Position Summary

Reporting to the Managing Director, Advisory Services, the Senior Advisor, Auto Insurance Rate Regulation undertakes a wide range of analysis related to the automobile insurance industry in Nova Scotia, and the applications made by insurance companies to modify their rates and risk‑classification systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Rate Application Reviews: Develop and maintain rate filing requirements for various rate and risk‑classification system applications, balancing regulatory efficiency with comprehensive information needed for Board decisions.
• Critically review technical and financial data filed by insurance companies and the Facility Association (FA) in support of proposed changes to their rates and risk‑classification systems.
