Overview

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides and autonomously manages health assessment, diagnosis, intervention and follow-up care to the residents of their community in accordance with Nurse Practitioner Acts, regulations, policies, standards, mission and the objectives of the Department of Health and the Government of Nunavut. This position has a direct impact on the health status of clients, families and the community; and contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the health centre operations.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional nursing care and community health services to clients.
• Develops, facilitates, implements and modifies client and family education/teaching based on the needs of the client.
• Conducts health surveillance and preventative activities that may improve the health of the population.
• Provides expert and specialized knowledge of primary health care related to nursing in Nunavut.
