ED Boarder Nurse

The ED Boarder Nurse provides ongoing nursing care to patients who have been admitted to the hospital but remain in the Emergency Department while awaiting inpatient bed placement. Care is delivered in accordance with inpatient standards and includes comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, and patient education. The nurse performs initial and ongoing reassessments and closely monitors patients for any signs of clinical deterioration to ensure timely intervention. The role also involves coordinating care with Emergency Department providers, hospitalists, specialists, case management, and bed placement teams to support continuity of care and facilitate timely patient throughput.
