Research theme: Bioactivity of biomass‑derived chemical fractions in material applications
Researchers will join a project focusing on isolation, purification, and functional evaluation of bioactive chemical compounds derived from biomass fractions, with emphasis on forest‑based side streams such as bark and other lignocellulosic residues. The goal is to identify the compounds or compound groups responsible for antiviral, antifungal, and antimicrobial activity, understand their mechanisms, and evaluate selected fractions as surface coatings for materials. This dual focus aims at both fundamental knowledge and application development to support commercialization of high‑value biomass‑derived chemical products within a sustainable bioeconomy.
