Reporting to the Sheriff, the Deputy Sheriff, Sergeant is a uniformed Peace Officer responsible for assisting with the day‑to‑day management and administration of the Sheriff’s Office, including court security, prisoner management, and civil enforcement duties. Working collaboratively with the Sheriff and second Sergeant, the position provides front‑line supervision, training, and operational oversight of Deputy Sheriffs across court security, provost, and civil enforcement functions, within a complex and high‑risk environment governed by legislation, judicial procedures, and safety standards, where decisions directly impact court operations, public safety, and the administration of justice across Nunavut, including travel to remote communities on circuit.
