Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for the procurement of goods and services for the Regional Centre. The work involves frequent contact with vendors, user departments and individuals at all levels of the Regional Centre.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent required
- Two (2) year post‑secondary program in Business or equivalent required
- Completion or enrolment in courses from the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada Accreditation Program and/or National Institute of Governmental Purchasing Professional Development Program and/or a NECI Public Sector Procurement Program (PSPP)
- Ability to work in a self‑directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in procurement
- Must have personal integrity and excellent verbal and written communication skills
