Job Summary

The Boiler/Gas Inspector reports to the Chief Boiler/Gas Inspector and evaluates installations and equipment for compliance with the Act and regulations to reduce the loss of life, injury, and property damage. The position is responsible for ensuring mechanical systems operate safely and efficiently, advising on proper installation of equipment based on codes and trade practices, and performing contract inspections on an annual basis.

Responsibilities

• Physically inspect boiler/pressure vessel plants and gas installations.
• Identify and register approved plans.
• Inspect and test boiler and pressure vessel controls.
• Evaluate the experience and qualifications of applicants for certification or examination.
• Conduct operating engineer examinations and welding performance qualification tests.
